FIRST Tech ChallengeHigh School S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)**Teams are based on parent volunteer and space availability. Programs are held at Chanhassen High School and Chaska High School during the evenings/weekends. Once coaches are established, they will notify those registered of what the schedule will be. Most teams meet 2-3 times per week in the evenings/weekends. What is FIRST Tech Challenge? Teams of students collaborate to build and program a robot that competes on a 12' by 12' field. Each year the challenge is designed to encourage students to think critically and expand their knowledge of the engineering process. FIRST Tech Challenge in MN is part of an international robotics program that includes more than 3,000 teams globally. The registration fee includes 1 Regional Event. If a team chooses to attend or qualifies for other events, additional fees may apply to cover tournament costs. Key elements of passing, catching, rushing, and defense will be taught and practiced daily. Please plan to help your footballer with drills! Girls Lacrosse Skills CampLacrossePlayers of all skills levels are welcome in grades K-6th. Learn beginner level to intermediate lacrosse skills and fundamentals. Athletes will learn how to properly catch, pass and cradle. Coaches will teach lacrosse concepts through fun and competitive game-like drills; including ground-ball pick ups, shooting, agility footwork, fun dodges to move around defenders and how to effectively play defense. GoSolar! Kidz: Growing & Cooking with the SunPrek-Elementary S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)The sun is your best friend if you know how to use it! This class teaches how to cook with just the sun. Solar cooking bypasses traditional cooking means. No electricity, gas, charcoal, or wood needed for solar cooking. Students will learn how to cook meals, dry food for preservation, and purify water all with the sun. In the end, students will build their own mini sun oven and take home an edible micro green plant. Golf SquadGolfGolf Squad is an enrichment program that brings Golf Professionals from your local area to your school campus to give lessons to the students. Golf Squad Professionals focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game of golf as well as valuable life lessons that help the students develop. Some fundamentals of the game that the students will learn include putting, chipping, full swing irons, full swing woods. They will also learn relationship building, proper etiquette, and rules of the game. The students will receive a book and a hat. *All equipment will be provided by the instructor, but students may bring golf clubs if they'd like.
