Architecture and Design CampPrek-Elementary S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)Explore the exciting world of architecture and design in this creative camp. Students will learn about the design process while testing their ideas through art, building activities, and architectural challenges. Developed in collaboration with local Twin Cities designers, the class introduces key concepts of structure, form, and space through hands-on projects and model building. Students will also use the 3D design tool TinkerCAD to plan and design their own architectural creations, experimenting with digital design and problem solving. From imaginative sketches to computer models, students will bring their ideas to life while exploring the foundations of architecture. Monday- Thursday will place an emphasis on building your child's athletic skills while developing agility, balance and coordination. In addition, our well-trained and up-beat staff will have kids with a similar ability level rallying with each other and serving with proper grips and techniques. The Friday match play class will consist of an approximate 45-minute skill building portion and an approximate 45-minutes match play portion. The match play portion will place an emphasis on learning how to play games and sets while displaying good sportsmanship. The match play portion will incorporate a modified court setup developed by the United States Tennis Association for kids within this age group. Please bring your appropriately sized tennis racquet and a water bottle. Beginner/Intermediate Adult Tennis DrillSports & FitnessThis drill is for both the beginner and intermediate tennis player. You must be able to sustain a rally with slow to medium paced balls. If we have different ability levels, the beginners will be placed with the beginners and the intermediate players will also be paired up together. The drill will consist of both live ball and instructor fed drills focusing on different shots and different areas of the court. Be prepared for lots of movement and high-energy drills. This class is a weekly signup and only those registered at the correct level will be able to participate in the drill. Confirmation must be received from Jim Mason and/or Community Education by the Friday before the drill in order to participate in the drill. Class fee's will auto adjust in your cart once you hit the required amount. Come and learn the game of tennis and play matches against other beginner/intermediate adult tennis players. This class is perfect for the player with little or no tennis experience and those who play often at the intermediate level. Each night all participants will be grouped by ability level and each class will consist of approximately 1 hour of stroke development (Forehand, Backhand, volley, Serve, etc.) and approximately 30 minutes of practicing what you learned in a match setting against other adults of the same ability level. Each Monday night will be limited to only 24 players and each Wednesday night will be limited to only 16 players at the appropriate level. Beginner/Intermediate High School TennisTennisThis class is perfect for those that played in a middle school program, took our older Youth Match Play Class, or played on a high school JV or B-Team. It is also ideal for the student wanting to go out for high school tennis for the first time! Each class will consist of developing all the tennis strokes, conditioning and singles/doubles strategy through both instructor-fed and live-ball drills and the use of the ball machine.
