Youth in Government Sponsorships

Youth in Government is a statewide program for 8th-12th graders interested in civic engagement, leadership, and debate. Delegates prepare throughout the fall by writing bills, researching policies, or drafting court materials to present at the 4-day conference in January.

We launched our YIG delegation last fall with six passionate students at Chaska High School. This year, our goal is to triple our impact by sending 20 students to the state conference in January 2027, as we expand to each of our three middle schools and Chanhassen High School. 

Unfortunately, high costs create a barrier for many families. We firmly believe that financial hardship should never prevent a student from accessing leadership opportunities and request your support in making that possible.

To make this program accessible to anyone who wants to advance their leadership skills, we are launching our "Sponsor a Delegate" campaign. Well the amounts below reflect key program expenses, contributions of any amount are greatly appreciated and help lower costs for our families and ensure financial barriers never stand in a student's way. 

How your donation makes an impact:
$50 buys one student’s t-shirt and transportation to and from the conference
$100 provides meals for one student during the intense conference days
$559 completely covers one student's registration costs
$709 fully sponsors one student's registration, food, and gear
