The chewy, almond Swedish Sandbakkels are delicate golden brown in color and are baked in tiny tins to resemble tarts.     Step into a sweet winter wonderland in this joyful holiday cookie workshop. Back by popular demand is Tess’ Holiday Cookie Bake & Decorate class, where participants learn the foundations of decorating cookies with Royal Icing—now paired with a bakery-style favorite called Black-and-White Cookies—half-way between a cake and a cookie, and covered with glossy chocolate and vanilla ganache-style icing on top. Participants will bake their own sugar cookies ahead of time so they are ready to decorate at the start of class. A PDF with two of the instructor’s personal sugar cookie recipes—one soft and chewy, one crisp—along with a full list of ingredients and supplies for Royal Icing will be provided roughly 5 days before class to allow time for shopping and baking. Choose to bake one or the other or both using cookie festive cutters of choice. The packet will also include supplies needed to create the bakery-style Black & White cookies that we will be baking together during class. If you are Norwegian and missed recording Grandma's recipe, tips and techniques - this is the class for you! Note: other nationalities find Lefse delicious too.Learn the fine points in making the dough, baking, storing and of course how to serve Lefse, bonus is a bit of history and humor too. We will begin with real potatoes using a number of authentic recipes and a modern version using instant potatoes.
