Nordic Pole Walking for Active Older Adults
What is Nordic Walking? Originating in Scandinavia, and still widely popular, it is simply walking with two poles, like for skiing, providing a better workout as well as better stability for those who have balance, knee or leg problems. It's low impact, fun to do, and easy to learn, making it an ideal form of exercise for anyone of any age. When done properly, it exercises 80 percent of your muscles and improves your overall heart, mind and body health. Get started this summer with this great outdoor activity as Carver County Park staff teach you how to use the poles, a proper walking technique, and pole-walking locations you can explore. All pole equipment will be provided for class participants' use. Transportation to and from parks is not included.
